George Cheung
As Advisory Board Member of VCNOffice
& Company, George brings extensive experience in Business
Development and Equity Investments in North Asia.
George has delivered Time-Critical Market Entry Assignments with
numerous US Tech Firms (Applications, Hardware, Internet, Oil/Gas
Exploration Technologies…) for the China & Asian Market,
as well as Subsidiary Operations Re-structuring Works, frequently
via co-operations with International and Local alliance partners.
This has delivered substantial Revenue-Increase results - e.g.
In two Oil/Gas related project, (a) with the Securing of key Multi-Million
Contract in South East Asia; (b) with Sustained Growth in the
China Market of over 25% Annual Revenue Growth. He has co-operated
with Leading Industry IT/ICP Vendors such as Huawei, ZTE, China
Mobile, China Telecom, China Unicom, Lenovo, Digital China, UTStacom,
Kejian, Putian, Bird; IBM, Intel, Cisco, Motorola; Sohu and Sina
as well as a number of China Research Institutes such as 61, 54
and 15.
Under
the sponsorship of the Infocomm Development Authority, Singapore
Government, George has developed and implemented the China Entry
Programs for 12+ Singapore HiTech Companies. This has included
special briefings, board/senior executives meetings with Local
China HiTech Firms, Local Government Commerce Commission and Alliance
Network Dinner co-hosted by the Singapore Ambassador to China.
Similar success were achieved with a number of US Hitech Hardware
and Software Application Firms.
George has worked with a number of Chinese Enterprises (State-Owned,
Joint-Stock & Private) with their Private Equity Needs, covering
industries from Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind, Fuel Cell, Ethanol),
Industrial/Consumer Products (Special PVC, Industrial Machinery),
City Commercial Banks, Pharmaceutical Firms, Software/Hardware
Vendors and Completed Commercial Buildings/Hotels. This has included
the high profile, Baoding Tianwei Yingli New Energy Resources
Corporation and Himin Solar Energy Group Corporation. He has also
provided consultation to a China Top 6 Provincial Government with
the formation of it's State Asset Management Company. George also
advises a Country Investment Companies and US Endowment Funds
in their China Private Equity Portfolio Investments.
Mr.
Cheung has also participated in a Key Stanford Business School
China Technology Development Study Project in 2010, co-authored
by Andy Grove, the former Intel Chairman/CEO.
On the Venture Capital side, George has worked with with Bay Area
VCs to 'Source Deals, Raise Funds and to Develop China Strategies'
for Portfolio Firms, including indirectly, a placement of USD
$60 MM for a China HiTech Firm in 1H03.
Prior
to VCNOffice, George has been the Vice President for Nortel/Nordx
IBDN Opitcal Fibre/Hubs Division (Asia Pacific), COO for Novell
(Asia), VP for Avid Technology (North Asia), VP for Irdeto Access
(Satellite/VSAT/IP/VoIP/Cable) Division (North Asia), VP for iDirect
North Asia (Satcom) & State Sales Director for IBM Australia/NZ,
with various assignments to Bay Area, California and Asia Pacific
Headquarter.
George has been one of the leading architect of IBM's Asia Pacific
Market Entry Strategy for the Small & Medium Sized Business.
He worked on a Joint IBM AP HQ-Booz Allen Hamilton Taskforce for
6 Months to develop the Indepth Entry Strategy, which focused
on Industry Segmentations, Portfolio Analysis and Partnering with
'Best of Breed' Industry Solution Providers to access these new
markets for IBM. He then joint the Innovative Strategic Sales
Team to implement the Successful Sales Channel Programs.
With
China's fast-paced economic growth, George had been appointed
as
a Senior Advisor to the 'Beijing Chaoyang CDB 5th International
Business Festival(A mini Fortune Global Forum for Beijing's Leading
CBD District)', by the Beijing Municipal Organizing Committee.
George has recently been appointed as Technology/Trade Advisor
for a Leading Nanjing-based State Conglomerate in the Satellite
Communications Industry.

Cheung was named as an ¡°Asia
Pacific New Leader¡± and had
represented China at the Generation 21 'Asia Pacific New Leaders
Dialogue', (A Mini ASEAN-World Economic Forum, Davos), in Jakarta,
2009, organized by the Asialink/Asia Society (Founded by John
D Rockefeller 3rd) and was
hosted by the President of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono;
Mckinsey & Co., the US
and Australian Government. US
President Barack Obama welcomed the delegation via Teleconferencing.
in the Generation 21 Dialogue in Jakarta.
George has been recognised by the Advance Global Australian Organization,
an Australian NGO, supported by the Australian Department of Foreign
Affairs
and Trade, as a member of "Asia 50", a leading group
of Australians
and Australian Alumni, residing in Asia.
Mr.
Cheung has been a Key Judge of the 'Tianhui' MBA Entrepreneurial
Project Championship of the China Academy of Science (CAS) Graduate
School of Management, Beijing. He has also presented to the MBA
Class at the Tsinghua University School of Economic Management
on 'China's Private Equity Market & Developments'.
George is an Associate Member of the "Society of Exploration
Geophysicists(SEG)" and have co-hosted the SEG China Advisory
Committee Luncheon in Beijing, April 2009. SEG President-Elect,
Larry Lines, and other Executive Team Members had attended the
Luncheon.
George
is a Chartered member and sit on the 'Private Equity' Committee
of the Capital Club in Beijing, China; the Beijing Chapters of
the Swiss, Singapore and Hong Kong Chambers of Commerce; Monte
Jade Science & Technology Association, Santa Clara, the SDF
Forum and other Industry/Technology Organizations in Silicon Valley
(George has been the former Chairman of the Banking/Investment

Josef
M. Mueller is of Swiss nationality and was born in Switzerland.
He completed his schooling and commercial and economic studies
in Switzerland and holds an MBA degree from I.M.D. (formerly IMEDE)
in Lausanne, Switzerland. He spent his entire professional career
on important international assignments with the Nestl¨¦ Group:
out of 35 years, he spent 32 years abroad, out of which 28 years
in Asia, including 19 years in the Greater China Region.
He joined
the Nestl¨¦ Group in Switzerland in 1972 as international operational
auditor with assignments in Europe, North America and South Africa.
After 4 years of solid introduction to Nestl¨¦¡¯s operations in
various countries, his subsequent career brought him to the Far
East (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Philippines) where he continuously progressed
into senior positions in Sales and Marketing Management. In between
these transfers, he spent some 3 years at Nestl¨¦ Headquarters
in Switzerland with business development responsibilities for
Far Eastern countries.
During 1992-1995,
he was Head of Nestl¨¦ in Pakistan and during 1995-1998 Head of
Nestl¨¦ in Korea. In mid 1998, he moved to Beijing and took over
the responsibilities for Nestl¨¦ in China as Chairman and CEO
of Nestl¨¦ (China) Ltd. and, in mid-2000, his responsibilities
were further expanded as Head of Nestl¨¦ in the Greater China
Region where in 2007 Nestl¨¦ employed over 13,000 permanent staff
and operated 21 factories and one R&D Centre (2nd to open
in 2008). He also was nominated as Consultant to the Yunnan and
Shaanxi Provincial Governments and was Vice President of the Beijing
Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment.
Upon his retirement
from Nestl¨¦, he maintains an active interest in global business
activities, in particular in Asia/Greater China Region as well
as Europe. He has been invited to serve as a Senior Advisor by
various organizations and as an ¡®Executive-in-Residence¡¯ at
IMD, International Institute for Management Development, Lausanne/Switzerland.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of the B¨¹hler Group
in Switzerland and of three Nestl¨¦¡¯s joint ventures in China,
namely Shanghai Totole Food Ltd. and Shanghai Totole First Food
Ltd. in Shanghai and Haoji Food Ltd. in Sichuan Province.
He speaks
German, English and French and has a basic knowledge in some other
languages.
